Road Map

Our journey most certainly will have a structure, however I am not assigning a pace to the posts. This is simply to allow time for synthesis, analysis, and most importantly, LIFE! I want to manage expectations of posting tempo in order to provide developed, complete, and logical thoughts/opinions/lessons from each of the Holy Texts we will read.

1. We will start with the Christian Bible, the combination of the Old and New Testaments. My particular version is called: Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation, by Tyndale House Publishers. Though I have not read it yet, that’s what we’re here to do together, I have attended a few services with family members and followed along in it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this version! It is absolutely perfect for someone who may describe themselves as SKEPTIC-ish. It comes complete with a timeline aligning biblical events with other well-known historical events as points of reference, maps depicting modern day locations of either direct reference or most likely where an event would have occurred, and personal bios of key players by book, just to name a few features.

Now, the Bible being the book most commonly referenced when describing other absurdly large books, this will most certainly take up the majority of the infancy of this whole SKEPTIC-ish project we are beginning together. But we are not limiting our spiritual exploration to the Bible. That would be in direct contradiction to the soul of our journey.

2. After the Bible we will read the Quran. Honestly, I do not own a version yet, so if you have an English translation that you’d recommend please drop me a line on our “Contact Us” page.

3. Following the Quran, probably in the year 2030, we will crack the *Bhagavad Gita. This is a Hindu epic, that revolves around a conversation between a warrior prince and the deity Krishna on the morning of battle. I’ll leave the summary at that, let’s learn about it together. I hear it’s quite epic, provides much practical wisdom, I’m very excited to read this one.

4. In keeping with the Hindu flow, we will read the *Upanishads next. This collection of profound philosophies are at the core of Hindu spirituality.

5. Finally, for the time being… we will leave the realm of the metaphysical and cleanse our palette with the *Dhammapada and the teachings of the Buddha.
